Consumers Still Careful With Cash

Gas prices are the lowest they’ve been in years, but consumers are still showing restraint with their cash, according to Nielsen. A recent survey found that 39% of U.S. consumers have more money to spend due to declining gas prices, but more than half say they believe we’re still in a recession. Half also say they’ll use their extra money to pay off bills, and 36% will use it for necessities like food. When they are splurging, the top categories for purchases are out-of-home entertainment and clothing. GP
