Phones > Salespeople

Ann-Marie Vazzano
While a knowledgeable sales staff is certainly important, 58% of mobile-toting customers who are shopping in-store would rather look for information on their devices than ask a salesperson for help, according to a recent Consumer Electronics Association study. The majority (62%) also think information they find on their phones is more useful than what’s provided in the store. More than one-third of those surveyed use their mobile devices while shopping in brick-and-mortar stores. Here’s how they’re using their phones when shopping:
• 69%: Conduct a general Internet search
• 52%: Visit a store-specific website
• 47%: Use a store-specific app
• 46%: Visit a manufacturer-specific website GP
