Who’s Shopping Online?
Ann-Marie Vazzano
When it comes to online shopping, men spend almost as much as women do, according to a report from BI Intelligence. Men are also more likely than women to make mobile purchases. In 2013, 22% of men used their smartphones to buy something, compared to 18% of women.
Not surprisingly, Millennials spend more money online than any other demographic (about $2,000 each year per person). But that doesn’t mean older generations aren’t shopping online. The study found that about one-quarter of mobile shoppers are 55 or older. Overall, online shoppers tend to have higher incomes than those who don’t shop online.
