Grow-Tech has launched the ZenPlug for easy transplanting of tissue culture starts and pre-rooted cuttings. The open plug shape allows for the precise and rapid placement of large callused plants, such as orchids and trees in the center of the plug. With a single-hand motion, the ZenPlug can be easily folded around fragile roots. The plug’s unique, multi-surfaced interior holds roots firmly but gently in place, providing young plants with the optimal environment for root growth.

Suntory Flowers is rolling out a whole new generation of Surdiva Scaevolas. Varieties are two weeks earlier, more densely branched and compact, and offer richer colors and superior floral coverage. Three new colors include Light Blue, Blue Violet (pictured) and Fashion Pink (pictured). They match the habit and timing of Surdiva Improved White. The three older varieties with a more horizontal habit have been renamed Classic Blue, Classic Light Blue and Classic Pink to differentiate from the new genetics.

Superbells Tropical Sunrise replaces Tequila Sunrise in Proven Winners’ lineup this year. This is one of very few calibrachoa with a splashed color pattern and it outranks others Proven Winners has seen in stability. You won’t find solid colored flowers mixed in with this striped beauty. Each large sized flower is splashed with orange, pink and coral tones, and better branching results in fantastic flower coverage. Tropical Sunrise begins to bloom in Week 11 and continues to flower into fall without deadheading. It’s been screened specifically for resistance to thielaviopsis and can be grown in combination with other medium-vigor varieties.
