Chris Beytes
Article ImageFlorida is moving forward with its plan to allow the cultivation and sale of the variety of medical cannabis known as Charlotte’s Web and the state’s Department of Health has published the final list of growers hoping to get one of the five licenses, one per region. They are:

Perkins Nursery, Inc.

Southeast
Keith St. Germain Nursery Farms
Bill’s Nursery, Inc. d/b/a Almond Tree Nursery
Costa Nursery Farms, LLC
Nature’s Way Nursery of Miami
Redland Nursery, Inc.

Note that both Hart’s and Bill’s have applied for licenses in more than one region. Also, GrowerTalks did confirm with Jose Smith of Costa Farms in Homestead that Costa Nursery Farms is one of their divisions.

In a separate news item, we learned that Loop’s, which hopes to get the Northeast region license, has partnered with Colorado-based Stanley Brothers Social Enterprises, which developed the original Charlotte’s Web strain of low-THC medical cannabis. It’s named for Charlotte Figi, a then-12-year-old who suffered from dozens of epileptic seizures per day. The medical cannabis reduced that to just a few a month. Stanley Brothers has licensed Loop’s to be the exclusive grower and distributor of their branded strain of Charlotte’s Web (that is, if Loop’s gets picked as one of the state’s five growers). GT
