Mast Scores High Again in Sustainability

Jennifer Duffield White
Neal Mast & Son Greenhouses and Mast Young Plants just scored an impressive 99 out of 100 on the 2014 CDP supply chain program questionnaire and an A- rating for climate change mitigation performance.

It’s a strategic effort for these growers, who are also Veriflora Certified and Certified Organic. The big picture involves trying to reduce their companies’ energy and carbon emissions, manage water use, recycle waste, work with a sustainable supply chain and partner within their
community.

In a press release, company co-owner Jim Raterink said, “We believe that sustainability helps us to strengthen profitability, support our employees and be socially responsible. We’re delighted to have achieved such a high CDP score two years in a row; it inspires us to continue the work that we’ve begun.” GT
