The registration deadline to get your community involved in the 2012 AIB contest is fast approaching—February 28 is the final registration date. Can’t get the right people in your city to commit? As a grower or retailer, we can all promote the use of our products in our communities. Lead by example and instill in your community leaders and business owners the good that plantings of all kinds do for them … and for the community as a whole. The AIB website is a complete resource for this information—www.americainbloom.org.
Consumer Awareness
The AIB staff and board are out beating the pavement to spread the word about the AIB contest and about the benefits of plants in our municipalities. In 2011, they attended the California Spring Trials, Ohio Short Course, National League of Cities conference, and OFA Grow and Sell for Profit. This March, AIB will be present at the Philadelphia Flower Show, where 260,000 consumers attend the event March 4–11. This huge event in a major metro area will bring consumers directly to our product and inspire them to act locally and plant pride in their communities. GT
