WaterPulse Reaches 10 Million S.F. Mark

Jennifer Polanz
Article ImageWaterPulse recently announced it has reached a major milestone: 10 million sq. ft. of WaterPulse capillary watering mats have been installed in greenhouses, nurseries, garden centers and indoor growing facilities in North America. That’s no small feat—it totals more than 200 football fields, or more than 230 acres. In linear feet, it totals more than the distance between New York City and Chicago at 860 miles.

These mats help growers and retailers reduce their labor and water costs by limiting irrigation to a few watering cycles of a few minutes per day, depending on location.

“In an average season, a garden center uses enough water to fill almost 30 swimming pools, and for growers, water and labor costs are two of their biggest concerns,” says Jeff Heffernan, CEO of WaterPulse. “We’re pleased to play a small part in helping to conserve vital resources.”

He estimates growers and retailers can cut water use by about 70% by using the mats, and reduce disease problems and control algae growth through the mat’s anti-microbial layer. GP
