Weed Recede Wins Innovation Award

Weed Recede, an all-in-one weed barrier mulch bag created by Bob Hawkinson, co-founder of TLC—Total Lawn Care, recently won an award for Most Innovative Emerging Business from the Think Beyond Plastic Global Competition. More than 125 participants from 25 countries entered the contest designed to seek out new technologies and concepts that help encourage recycling and reducing plastic pollution.

Weed Recede is an all-in-one, soil degradable bioplastic mulch bag that replaces the need to use petroleum-based packaging for lawn care and landscaping materials. Bob estimates two billion mulch bags are thrown away annually, something Weed Recede can prevent. Weed Recede also suppresses weeds, reduces the use of herbicides and holds in moisture.
