The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) has named Coppertina Ninebark as one of its 2011 Cut Flowers of the Year, winning in the woody category.
Coppertina Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolious) is a new hybrid between Dartss Gold and Diabolo. It flushes copper in spring and becomes a rich red in summer. Soft pink flowers line the arching branches in early summer. Tiny blossoms appear on top of reddish-brown leaves in April in warmer climates. In the cool/cold areas of its range, Coppertina flowers in mid-summer. Hardy in Zones 3 to 8. GP
